Brickwork Apprenticeship Level 2 at Accrington and Rossendale College

Course description

This qualification consists of 60% practical work and 40% theory work. You will carry out practical tasks in purpose-built workshops and theory sessions underpin the practical work by covering trade technology and associated subjects. Over the two years, you will achieve the diploma qualification by attending college on a day release basis. Alongside this, you will complete a portfolio of work based evidence whilst working on site.

The learners will be in employment four days per week building a portfolio for NVQ Level 2 and will attend College one day a week and block release to study towards:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Brickwork
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths.

To achieve the Level 2 in Brickwork, the learner must complete six units in total.

Course content

Units include:

  • Conform to efficient working practices
  • Set out masonry structures
  • Erect masonry structures
  • Move and handle resources
  • Place and finish specialist
concrete.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade D in English and Maths are preferred but not a requirement to be considered for the course.

 

On completing your application form you will be invited to attend college for an interview, which if successful, would then lead to an offer of a place on the course.

Assessment

Assessment of the diploma qualification will be by online end of unit theory tests and practical tests for each unit of study. The work based portfolio will also be assessed.

Future opportunities

Completion of the Intermediate Apprenticeship will enable you to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship.
