Barbering Level 2 Apprenticeship at Lancaster and Morecambe College
As an Apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds; you will earn a salary and gain real experience in the workplace with your employer as well as working towards a nationally recognised NVQ and other qualifications. Apprenticeships are suitable for well-motivated people who are focussed and know which career path they want to follow. They offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time study. This programme is aimed at people who are employed, or are seeking employment. You will need to be 16 years of age or over.
• Employment, for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with training in the workplace • Assessor visits in the workplace • Functional Skills level 1 • Employment Rights and Responsibilities • One day a week in college
Level 2 Apprenticeship covers
• Cutting Techniques • Facial Hair Shaping • Dry and Finish Men’s Hair • Advise and Consult With Clients • Create Basic Patterns in the Hair • Health and Safety • Personal Presentation • Promotion of Products and Services The course is delivered covering both theoretical and practical aspects of the qualification within the workplace.
5 GCSEs at grade A*-D including English or maths OR a Level 1 related qualification. Relevant work experience will also be considered Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
This course is continuously assessed in the workplace by portfolio building, on the job assessment, presentations and some exams.
Apprenticeship training is currently fully funded, however this is subject to change. You will need to buy: • Barbering kit £ 99.00 approx. Possible trips and events that are available but not compulsory include: (This can be subject to change) • Salon International - £140.00 approx. Information will be given at personal interview.

On completion of this course you will receive a City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Barbering
