Course description

If your dream is to become a top artist or graphic designer then this is the place to start. You will learn and practice all of the skills you will need to be successful in your career. You will develop your work as an independent artist, progress to university or work in the Arts Industry. The opportunities are as broad as your imagination.

Course content

This full time course is taught over four days per week for 1 / 2 years which includes Maths, English and ICT. The BTEC Extended Diploma provides in-depth knowledge from a wide selection of areas in the creative field including fine art, textiles, graphics, multimedia and photography. You will start with the fundamentals of Art & Design and then develop your skills in a range of specialist areas which may include visual recording, ideas and concepts, historical studies, textiles, graphics, multimedia, photography, sculpture, computers and printmaking.

Entry requirements

Future opportunities

This is a specialist qualification for those who have a clear view of their future career or want to progress to Higher Education. The course is equivalent to three A levels and highly valued by Universities. The course is a very successful course and 100% of all students who apply to University receive a place.

 

What can I do when I finish?

If you gain suitable grades you may progress to Higher Education and do a degree in fine art, animation, fashion design, graphic design, interior design or photography.

Materials needed

You will be provided with specialist art equipment throughout the course but will be expected to provide your basic art materials and you may be asked to contribute towards the cost of educational visits as part of your studies.
