Diploma in Engineering Technologies Level 1 at Ashford College
You will study nine units where you will look at the engineering environment, techniques and principles. These will include practical skills of machining, cutting, forming, assembling and joining engineering materials, mechanical and electrical maintenance, maths and science in engineering, working with customers, computeraided drawing and project planning. This course is made up of practical projects and class-based sessions that will prepare you for a career in engineering. There will be practical assessments and externally set examinations.
Supported work experience will be arranged with guidance from your tutor. English and maths are an important part of the course, whether at functional skills or GCSE level.
You will need four GCSEs at Grades C-G/5-1, including English and maths at minimum Grade E/2. GCSE Grade E/2 science is preferred, but not essential.
Progress to Level 2 Diploma in Engineering and Technology or Intermediate Apprenticeship in Engineering.
