Sport and Active Leisure Level 1 Diploma at Preston's College

Course description

This exciting introductory course combines practical and theory sessions to increase your understanding of the wide range of career opportunities available in sport and leisure. With access to our first-class STEM Centre, you will have the opportunity to examine sport and the mechanics of sport in a technical way. You will also get to take part in various sporting activities including football, basketball, and hockey as well as fitness training in our fitness suite.

Course content

You will cover topics including planning training programmes, exploring how the body works, planning and leading activities, job opportunities, practical sport and planning sports events. Covering these topics will enable you to gain the independent learning abilities and practical skills needed for further study and future employment.

Entry requirements

You need a profile of mainly grade E’s at GCSE including English and maths. You must also show an interest in the subject.

Future opportunities

Once you have successfully completed this course, you can progress to the Level 2 course in sport. This qualification is relevant to a career in leisure, coaching, teaching and sports development.
