Music Technology UAL Level 2 Diploma at Northbrook College Sussex

Course description

You will learn how to use the latest software including Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools and Native Instruments. You will learn microphone techniques and how to use professional mixing desks.

You will work within our high tech new music recording studios: developing your skills in audio recording, editing, mixing, remixing and electronic production.

You will also learn about the various careers in the music industry, music theory & compositional skills, sound design for movies and computer games, live sound techniques, marketing and event management. The courses cover many of the key job roles in the industry and the real-world assignments are designed to give you a taste of working as a music practitioner.

There are also various extra curricular activities that you can get involved in, such as Northbrook Student Radio, college record labels, club nights, gigs and social events.

Entry requirements

To start on this course, you need:

2 GCSEs at grade D or above (including English)
a relevant Level 1 qualification, including English and Maths requirements and tutor reference.

If you have lower or higher qualifications than the above:
- If you do not have the above qualifications, you may be able to start on the Level 1 Music & Media course before applying to move on to this Level 2 course.
- Students with at least 4 GCSEs at grades A* to C may be able to start on one of our Level 3 courses instead.

Future opportunities

After 1 year at Level 2 you can achieve a UAL Level 2 Diploma in Music This means you can apply for one of our Level 3 Music courses.
