Travel and Tourism Diploma (Level 2) at Leeds City College

Course description

Develop your knowledge of the Travel and Tourism industry helping you to choose the career you would like, whether that is in cabin crew, in travel and tourism services or as a resort representative.

Customer service will be integral to every pathway and will underpin your modules throughout. You will learn how to communicate effectively and there will be opportunities throughout the course to build on your personal/social development, confidence and presentation skills.

Course content

Travel and Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world.

The Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications give you an insight into the many different parts of the industry, from the importance of customer service to the role and responsibilities of a resort representative and the air cabin crew. The courses include exploring customer service, the role of air cabin crew and the overseas resort representative, how to display products and services, planning a trip to a visitor attraction, scheduled, chartered and low cost airlines and planning for your career in the industry. Progress through the levels to more advanced knowledge and understanding of the industry to Level 3, degree level and employment.

Entry requirements

You will normally need to have at least one of the following: At least 1 GCSE at grade C, preferably in English A BTEC Foundation Certificate in a related subject. A standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to at least 2 GCSEs at grade D and 1 at grade C. Other related level 1 or 2 qualifications

Assessment

You are continually assessed throughout the course with one-to-one tutorials to check on your progress. There will be a range of different assessment techniques used throughout the course. This could include assignment reports, presentations, role-plays and interviews.

Future opportunities

Provided you achieve at least merit grades, you can go on to one of the Air Cabin Crew Courses; either the Air Cabin Crew Diploma or alternatively you could progress to the Travel and Tourism Level 3 Diploma. You could also progress onto the European Work Placement programme. In addition to these options at Leeds City College you can apply directly for work.
