Classic Vehicle Restoration Apprenticeship at Banbury and Bicester College

Course description

If you plan to pursue a career in the motor vehicle industry - specifically working with classic vehicles - then this is the course for you.

According to research by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, there is a need for around 1,000 new apprentices in classic vehicle restoration across the UK.

This course is designed to give you a broad base of knowledge and experience to prepare you for working within the industry and focuses on developing the particular skills and knowledge required for older ‘classic’ vehicles.

Course content

You spend 1-2 days a week in college participating in classroom and practical-based sessions. The other 3-4 days are spent in the workplace, putting what you have learned into practice.

You will be expected to build a portfolio with evidence you have collected in the workplace. An assessor will visit your workplace to observe your working practices. All functional skills (English and maths) will be delivered at college within your day release.

Entry requirements

Qualifications on entry will be confirmed on application and will depend on experience within the sector, as well as formal qualifications.

All applicants will be called in to sit an initial assessment to ensure that you are at the correct level of learning. You will then be invited into college for an interview with a member of the teaching team.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course you can progress to a more advanced apprenticeship or can progress within the workplace into further, related employment.
