Physics AS/A level (AQA) at Abbey Grange Church of England Academy
The Physics course is a contemporary course that reflects developments in the world of Physics. The course complements A level work in Mathematics and Chemistry. The course is suitable for any students who is interested in Physics, Maths, Engineering and related courses.
The course covers the following topics:
- Measurements and their errors
- Particles and radiation
- Mechanics and materials
- Further mechanics and thermal physics
- Fields and their consequences
- Nuclear physics
To study AS level Physics at Abbey Grange Cof E Academy you will require either grade B or above in Core Science, Additional Science and Maths at GCSE or grade B or above in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths GCSEs. In addition you will need C grade or above in GCSE English. These GCSEs should form part of a total of at least five GCSEs at C grade or above in order to study two other AS levels or seven GCSEs at grade C or above to study three other AS levels. Please note candidates for the course who have completed an Additional Applied Science GCSE rather than an Additional Science GCSE will not be considered.
Assessment is by three exam papers (2 hours duration)
Paper 1: Covers 1-5 plus half of topic 6
Paper 2: Covers half of topic 6 and 7,8
Paper 3: Covers topic 9 a, practical skills and data analysis
