Engineering BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Berwick Academy

Course description

This engineering course equips entrants with the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to meet the needs of modern engineering industries. The course is a specialist work related qualification, which provides the learner with a clear pathway into an engineering career or onto further/higher education. 

The course comprises three days each week of school-based Engineering lessons and one day each week of an engineering work placement. The work placement equips students with real engineering experience which is invaluable in today's employment market. 

The remaining time is used for top up or re-sit courses.

The Diploma consists of six units of work delivered by a range of staff. The units covered are health and safety, engineering drawing, welding, machining, fabrication and electrical principles. Some are theory based and some are practical based, and as such will be located in the workshops. Independent study sessions will be used for completing assignments and practising skills.
