Public Services BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Grantham College

Course description

The BTEC National Diploma is an academically based course designed to link theory to realistic work based situations. As well as learning about the special employment area students may choose, you will develop the skills needed to start your career. Physical fitness is an important aspect of the course, although not a pre - requisite for entry.

Course content

Units of study include:

  • Leadership
  • Impacts of War
  • Government Policies
  • Citizenship
  • Physical Training
  • Career Planning.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs (Grade C or above), or equivalent qualifications e.g. Level 2 Diploma in Public Services at Merit/Distinction including English Grade C.


Assignments, observation & practical tests.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

This Diploma is equivalent to 2 vocational A-Levels (1 for Sub-Diploma). You can progress on to degree level study in relevant subjects. Students gaining a Merit/Distinction profile may be considered for direct entry into the commissioned ranks of the uniformed services.

Further information

This course will be delivered in the first year as a one year Subsidiary Diploma and if relevant grades are met learners will continue onto the Level 3 Diploma in their second year.
