Animal Care Apprenticeship Level 3 at Warwickshire College Group

Course description

The apprenticeship programme offers individuals the opportunity to train towards a recognised qualification whilst being in paid employment in a range of settings including: kennels, catteries, rescue centres, grooming salons, pet shops and many more. 

To qualify for an apprenticeship you have to have found employment within the animal management/welfare industry.

You will attend college for one day per week for 15 weeks to cover the knowledge required to gain your technical certificate.  College attendance will either be at Pershore or Moreton Morrell.

The duration of the course is 18 months.

By completing an apprenticeship you will be able to gain knowledge and practical experience in your workplace.  The pathways available within this qualification include animal care and welfare, zoos/wildlife establishments, dog grooming, pet care and retail and animal training.

Entry requirements

Grade E, 2 or above in Maths and English if achieved GCSE's 

Assessment

Practical and theorerical knowledge will be assessed by a qualified Warwickshire College staff member.

Future opportunities

WHAT CAREERS CAN I GO ON TO?

 Students may find that this qualification helps them to progress in their present employment.

WHAT FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES ARE THERE?

Successful completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship may allow progression on to the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.  This will be subject to your employers agreement and you having developed a high level of practical skills and supervisory responsibility.  Other options include many further education routes.
