History in Year 12 AQA

AS HIS1J Germany 1871-1925. 

A study of the formation and development of Imperial Germany with regard to domestic, economic and foreign policy.  How far were Germany responsible for WW1 and its world wide impact?  How far did they recover from the effects of WW1?

Written paper: 1hr 15min (50% AS/25%A2)

AS HIS2N Anti-semitism, Hitler and the German people 1919-1945. An investigation into the origins of Hitler’s anti-semitism and its impact on German attitudes to and policies towards Jews. This unit includes a field trip to Prague, Berlin and Krakow.  Who is responsible for the Holocaust?

History in Year 13

A2 HIS3J The State and the People: Britain 1918-1964.

A study of the change in relationship between the state and its citizens. Examining the upheaval caused by war in Britain including social reform, royal abdication, strikes and economic crisis.  How far did the post war government create modern day Britain?

Written paper: 1 hr 30min (30% A2)

A2 HIS4X The Middle East 1895-2000.

An investigation into why Arab nationalism emerged and how the Great Powers responded to developments.  What were the causes of conflict between Arabs and Jews in Palestine and why are they so difficult to overcome?             Coursework: 3500 words (20% A2)
