Level 3  BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Public Services

Tis course will be of particular interest to anyone who is thinking about joining or being involved in public service, either uniformed or non uniformed.

What will I learn?

BTEC Public Services will give you an insight into the different uniformed and non uniformed public services, from firefighters, the army and the police to mountain rescue, teaching and custodial care. Your qualification will help you to understand the importance of teamwork and effective communication within the public services as well as entry requirements and working environment.

Units covered include:

  • Government and Policies
  • Leadership and Teamwork
  • Citizenship and diversity
  • Physical preparation , health and lifestyle
  • Crime and its effects on society
  • Impact of war and terrorism

 

Course content

How and when will I learn?

There are 5 sessions a week, which will be split between lecture and seminar based lessons, as well as practical activities relating to the assessments for each module.

 

Students will be expected to lead seminars and give presentations on given subjects, both as individuals and as part of a group. Students are expected to work together on projects and be able to manage themsleves and others in terms of workload and tasks.

Entry requirements

GCSE English at grade D or above.
