GCE A2 Level Product Design: Textiles at Queen Elizabeth School

Course description

A2 Textiles has the following units: 1. Textiles Design and Manufacture (written exam - 25% of total A2 marks) This exam looks at how textiles are cared for and how fabrics can be dyed and finished (e.g. made stain and water repellent). You investigate high performance and smart fabrics (e.g. fabrics which change colour when heated). Technology is moving so fast in this area that there are fascinating innovations coming out all the time (e.g. did you know banana fibres can be used for window blinds?). 2. Designing and making a textiles product (coursework - 25% of total A2 marks) This is where you will build on all units, designing and making a substantial textiles product.

Entry requirements

Students must gain grade E or above at AS to be considered for A2.
