Engineering Craft Advanced Apprenticeship at NITAL

Course description

Engineering programme for candidates progressing from Level 2 and with greater level of responsibility at work.

Suitable for individuals working/training as Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Fitters, Service Engineers, Electrical/Electronic Engineers, Technicians and Design Engineers progressing to skilled status.

Course content

You will undertake an NVQ in the relevant discipline, Technical Certificate, Functional Skills in Mathematics, English and ICT, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) and Emploment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR).  

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C and above (or equivalent) Mathematics, Science, English and ICT (if possible) Other engineering qualifications may also be considered when assessing candidates ability to undertake a very intensive programme.


Candidate will be assessed through NVQ portfolio of evidence, Technical Certificate through day release at college including course work and exams. Functional skills will be discussion, portfolio and online test.

Financial information

Those individuals aged 16 to 18 will be eligible for full programme funding, those aged 19+ will be part-funded.

Future opportunities

Successful candidates may consider the next step of a Higher Apprenticeship including Level 4 NVQ and HNC or candidate may consider undertaking HNC alone.
