## Course content

AS Level – Year 1You will expand your knowledge on topics studied at GCSE as well as introducing new ideas such as calculus. You’ll study the applications ofdifferentiation and integration, circle theorem, geometric series and trigonometric identities.You will also explore Mechanics and how to describe mathematically the motion of objects and how they respond to forces acting upon them, collisions and 2 dimensional vectors. This unit is particularly useful if you are also studying A level physicsA2 Level – Year 2You will extendyour knowledge of topics studied at AS Level, such as trigonometry identities, differentiation, numerical methods and logarithms, implicit differentiation, integration, 3 dimensional vectors, partial fractions and binomial expansion.Develop your understanding of Mechanics from AS level. Learn how to describe mathematically the motion of projectiles in 2 dimensions, collisions involving Newton’s law of restitution, energy conservation, moments, centre of gravity of irregular shapes and non uniform acceleration problems.

## Entry requirements

APS 44 and 5 GCSEs at grades C or above, including English at grade C/5 or above, and science and maths at grades B/6 or above.
