BTEC National Level 3 Sub-Diploma/ Diploma in Health and Social Care at Clacton County High School

Course description

We offer BTEC Level 3 in Health and Social Care and you will complete a work placement of 100 hours over the 2 years for the Diploma and 50 hours of work placement for a Subsidiary Diploma.

Although it can be quite theoretical at times, there are some practical units and the placement deepens understanding of the subject. This course will suit you if you are able to work independently and are a very committed student.

You will be expected to meet the requirements of a DBS check (formerly CRB) and arrange your own work experience placements. You will need to have a keen interest in working with people and need to be a good team player. Some assessments will be externally assessed in work placements.

For the Subsidiary Diploma you will complete 6 units and 50 hours work experience at 2 different placements. For the Diploma you will complete 12 units of study and 100 hours work experience at 3 different placements. You will produce a professional portfolio on your work experience.

You will study areas such as Equality and Diversity; Health and Safety (including a First Aid course); Safeguarding Children and Adults; Anatomy and Physiology and Nutrition Health. Diploma students will also plan and carry out a Health Campaign.

Entry requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs (grades A*-C) is required, normally including either Maths or English or a Merit in BTEC First Diploma.
