Course description

Level 2 Principal Learning in Business, Administration and Finance is an exciting course which will prepare you for further study, training or work in many different fields. Even if you do not expect to work in business, the skills you will develop through the Principal Learning in Business, Administration and Finance will be useful in whatever career you follow. Every organisation, small or large, private or public sector, needs people with business skills.

You will learn through carrying out practical real-life projects and investigations, visits to different local companies and working with people from local businesses, such as manufacturing companies and retail outlets. Topics studied will include enterprise, business administration, personal finance, business finance and accounting, marketing, sales, customer service, teamwork, communication, business change, and careers in business.

Typical assignments could involve running a mini business enterprise, planning a publicity campaign, using a computerised accounting system, and demonstrating sales skills. You will also develop your investigative, communication, presentation and project management skills.

Entry requirements

  • Mininum Key Stage 3 Levels 5/6 in English, Mathematics and ICT
  • Numeracy skills which are good enough to tackle simple accounting
  • School recommendation
  • Interview

Assessment

One unit is assessed by examination. All other units are assessed by teacher-marked coursework tasks.
