Sports Science A Level at Stepney Green Maths and Computing College

Course description

The course will provide the opportunity to take students’ knowledge and understanding of Physical Education and the World of Sport to an advanced level. Following on from the GCSE PE course the A-level allows students to advance their theoretical knowledge and understanding whilst specialising in a specific range of sports in a choice of roles.

Success in this course will provide a clear link to studying a Sport related course in Higher Education. Choices could include Sports Science, Sports Psychologist, Elite coach or PE teacher.

Students follow two units in each year. Unit 2 and 4 allow students to specialise in an practical area of specific interest.

  • Unit 1: Participation in Sport and Physical Recreation
  • Unit 2: The Critical Sports Performer

  • Unit 3: Preparation for Optimum Sports Performance
  • Unit 4: The Developing Sports Performer

7 A* - B in related subjects.
