Caring for Children CACHE Level 1 Diploma at Brooklands College
This course will support you in preparing for your next steps either in training or moving towards employment in Childcare. The units encourage an understanding of the knowledge and the skills needed to care for babies and young children. They cover children’s growth, learning and development. There are also units designed to help your own personal and social development.
This qualification is made up of a range of units including:
• Growth and Development of Young Children
• Safeguarding Children and Health and Safety.
• Understanding Play for Early Learning
• Art and Craft Activities for Young Children
• Musical Activities for Young Children
• Science Activities for Young Children
• Communication and Learning
• Healthy Eating
A written reference from a teacher regarding attendance, punctuality, behavior and motivation and a satisfactory interview.
There are no exams, you will be assessed through your coursework and practical tasks such as designing posters, charts and leaflets. You will also complete functional skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT as part of your learning programme.
Work experience / work placement is not an essential requirement of this course, however, you may spend some time in an early years placement towards the end of the course.
Your tutor will advise you of any additional costs at the start of the course. Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.
After completing this course you may be able to progress onto the CACHE Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce. Job roles in this sector include: Nursery Nurse and Nanny.
