Applied Business Studies A Level at Clacton County High School

Course description

The course provides an overview of the different elements that make up an organisation including: finance; marketing; human resources; managing people; and external influences that affect a business.

Students are given the opportunity to set up and run their own business and apply knowledge gained to a variety of real life businesses. You are assessed in four units of coursework and two exams over the two years.

  • Managing Resources

This course will suit you if you enjoy using figures and statistics; looking at the bigger picture and the business world in a more analytical sense, and evaluating the impact business theories can have on the business environment. Students who enjoy problem solving and expressing their views through debating should consider this Business course as an option of study.

Entry requirements

Essential: A minimum of six GCSEs (grades A*-C) is required, including Maths and English. Students will normally require a minimum of a GCSE (grade B) in any subject they wish to study at A Level.

Students with a grade in C in English or Maths may be accepted.

Desirable: Grade B at GCSE or BTEC First Distinction in Business Studies. Knowledge of Business Studies/interest in Current Affairs.
