Brickwork Level 1 Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

The Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork is an introductory course that will equip students with the basic practical skills and knowledge needed to work in the industry. The one year, full time course comprises of theory work and practical sessions in the brickwork workshop in the College’s state-of-the-art Construction Skill Centre. The units covered will include: Contribute to setting out and building of masonry structures up to damp proof course Blocklaying activities Bricklaying activities Cavity walling activities Health, safety and welfare in construction This is an ideal course for those who work well in a team, enjoy working with their hands and is looking to take their first steps in a career in Bricklaying. Maths and English will be at the core of your studies, both of which are essential if you wish to pursue a career in the industry.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs Grade E-G and/or demonstrate an interest in the subject. All places are subject to interview. Applicants subject to induction/probationary period.

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds where needed as a stepping stone to progress to a Full Level 2. Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA ((Employment Support Allowance, (work related activity)) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs.

Future opportunities

This course will prepare you for the Level 2 Diploma in Brickwork. You may also wish to continue your studies as part of an Apprenticeship.
