Business Studies BTEC at Turton High School & Sixth Form College
Business BTEC provides a flexible, unit based structure which incorporates development of practical, interpersonal and thinking skills.
You will gain a theoretical understanding of the world of business by completing assignments relating to various topics including marketing, accounting, recruitment and many more. It will prepare you for a future in the business world and will equip you with the practical skills needed for a career in business.
There are three options when deciding to study Business BTEC:
National Extended Certificate in Business
This is equivalent in size to 1 A level. Students are required to complete 4 units including 3 compulsory units and 1 optional unit. The Extended Certificate is for learners wishing to take the course alongside another area of complementary study, as part of a two-year, fulltime study programme.
National Diploma in Business
This is equivalent in size to two A-Levels. Students are required to complete 8 units of work which includes 6 compulsory units and 2 optional units. This qualification allows learners to give breadth to their study programme by choosing a contrasting subject, or to give it more focus by choosing a complementary subject.
National Extended Diploma in Business
This is equivalent in size to 3 A-Levels. Students are required to complete 13 units of work where 7 are compulsory and 6 are optional. This qualification is a two year, full time course that is suitable for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in business areas before entering employment. It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or business management
Minimum of 5 grade C’s to include either Mathematics 4 or English 4
