Religious Studies A Level at Ysgol Y Strade

Course description

You will study a range of interesting issues including:

  • The origins of Buddhism along with the beliefs and way of life of Buddhists
  • The main ethical doctrines including their impact on moral decision making and behaviour.
  • Different beliefs about the nature and purpose of life, death and life after death.

RS 1/2 ER:

Introduction to Buddhism

RS 1/2 ETH:

Introduction to Religion and Ethics


Studies in Religion and Ethics

RS 4 HE:

Religion and Human Experience


Entry requirements

Although each student will be considered on an individual basis for entry onto the course it would be beneficial to have obtained a C or above in GCSE Religious Studies.


RS 1/2 ER: 1¼ hour written examination

RS 1/2 ETH: 1¼ hour written examination

RS 3 ETH: 1¼ hour written examination

RS 4 HE: 1¼ hour written examination

Future opportunities

Religious Studies can be studied successfully with a number of other subjects and will be of great advantage to anyone who wishes to work in any field that involves dealing with people for instance the medical field, teaching, social work, the business
world, army, media and tourism.
