Art and Design at Huddersfield Grammar School
The students will be expected to produce a minimum of three projects from various starting points which will go towards the final assessment. Each project must show evidence of research and development of ideas, together with an awareness of the work of artists from a variety of genres and styles from Western and non-Western cultures. A wide variety of media will be used in order to build on the artistic strengths and skills of the individual.
The course is assessed internally and then moderated externally by the examining board. The course work carries 60% of the final grade and is made up of projects completed throughout the two-year course. The examination carries 40% of the final grade and is made up of one assignment set by the Board and consists of a four week period of preparation and ten hours of supervised unaided work carried out over a two week period. Both preparation work and the final piece contribute to the mark.
