Physics AS/A2 at Tech City College

Course description

How does the universe work? What keeps our modern world running? If you are interested in the big questions, then Physics is the subject for you. Physics is the foundation of science and technology and many of the advances that we rely on today can be directly traced back to important physics research. The course will help you learn to think logically, deal with practical tasks, work with other people to solve problems, write clear explanations and understand difficult concepts when they are explained to you. As part of the course, you will plan and carry out an experiment, then analyse the results.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including a minimum: Grade B in Maths Grade C in English Double Science grade BB or Triple Science grade BBB.

Assessment

You will be assessed through written examination and practical and investigative skills assessment.

Future opportunities

A-level Physics is an essential qualification for degree courses in engineering, astronomy and other related subjects. Studying Physics also develops key transferable skills, which can open the door to other analytical subjects such as law, finance, actuarial science, medicine and dentistry. The skills you will develop on the course are also highly valued by employers.
