Course description

A course designed to provide a specialist work-related qualification for the Media sector. Learners will produce a portfolio of work and gain knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare them for employment .

Progression routes from this course

This is a course designed to provide a specialist Media related qualification. Upon completion, students may wish to either continue with further study in the Media sector, but equally the qualification will give the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to prepare for employment.

Modules/units

Six specialist units to be completed to provide a portfolio of student work.

Two core units, one specialist mandatory unit and three other specialist units.

Unit 1: Research Techniques for the Media Industries

Unit 2: Pre-production Techniques for the Media Industries

Unit 10: Understanding the Print-based Media Industries

Unit 17: Producing Print-based Media

Unit 35: Interviewing Techniques for Media Production

Unit 50: Factual Writing for Print

Assessment

Centre assessed by portfolio/coursework. Edexcel moderated. Graded at pass, merit or distinction.

Entry requirements

There is no requirement for a student to have studied Media before taking this course.
