Course description

Photography Component 1

A personal themed component explored through referenceto relevant photographers leading to a final piece, created bythe student with support from their teachers.

Photography Component 2

This includes a 15 hour supervised test period where a finalpiece is completed after the developmental workundertaken by students in the SpringTerm. One questionfrom the exam paper is explored by the students in theirown personal way. The final submission includes thepreparatory sketchbooks made in lesson time and the finalpiece made over the 15 hrs.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above.GCSE Photography is not acompulsory requirement but is preferred.


You will be assessed on two internally assessed componentswhich will be moderated byAQA:

Component 1:Personal investigation – no time limit(60% ofA-level)

Component 2:Response to an externally setassignment – preparatory period +15 hours supervised time(40% of A-level)
