Health, Fitness & Exercise Instruction YMCA Level 2 Diploma at Oaklands College
This course involves planning, teaching and evaluating both individual and group exercise sessions. You will study both theory and practical units which will include Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, Health and Safety in the Fitness environment, Customer care, Employment law and Industry specific legislation and procedures and the active leisure sector. You will be taught how to instruct a variety of exercise sessions which will include Gym Instruction, Circuit Training and Exercise for Children.
You will learn how to plan and instruct a variety of exercise sessions for groups and individual exercise. You will also learn about the body systems and the underpinning knowledge required to teach these sessions effectively.
This course is aimed at learners who want to work in the Health and Fitness Industry. You will need a minimum of 4 grade C's at GCSE, to include English and Maths.
You need to have a real interest in working in the Health and Fitness Industry.
You will be assessed using a variety of assessment methods, which will include coursework, practical assessments, external exams, worksheets and presentations.
16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
This course will give you the qualifications to work in a Gym as a fitness Instructor to teach Gym Instruction, Circuit Training and Exercise and Fitness for children. You will have the qualifications to go on to the REP's register. The level 2 CYQ Fitness Instructor (Gym) is the pre entry requirement for the level 3 CYQ Personal Trainer course.
You will also complete an emergency first aid course and a course in deaf awareness.
