Course description

Why should I study this course? Interested in Drama and live theatre? Want to develop imagination, sensitivity and artistic knowledge and understanding? Want a Higher Education course or career that involves a confident outlook, meeting people, solving problems and working as a team? This course is concerned with Drama and Theatre in performance, both today and throughout history. Throughout the course you will have access to state of the art facilities, including 2 purpose built drama studios, a large dance studio, a hall with raked seating and a recording studio.
You will have the opportunity to explore and interpret plays practically from the perspective of actor, director or designer, and create your own performance pieces working as part of a small, committed group. A key part of the course will involve seeing a wide range of live theatre, both locally and nationally.

For an AS qualification students will take units 1 and 2.
For an A-Level qualification, students will take units 1, 2, 3 and four.

AS Unit 1 Live Theatre Production and Set Play DRAM1
AS Unit 2 Presentation of Extract from a Play DRAM2
A2 Unit 3 Pre-20th Century Play and Further Set Play DRAM 3
A2 Unit 4 Devised Drama DRAM4

Entry requirements

GCSES in Drama and English at Grade C or above
