A Level Food Technology at Great Sankey High School
The course focuses on key aspects of food technology and its relationship with broader society. You will develop practical skills in handling and working with food, analytical skills and ICT. It is essential that you have the ability to manage your own learning and solve problems.

Unit 2 - Food 2
Unit 3 - Food 3
Unit 4 - Food 4
You will need to have a minimum of 5 A* - C grades at GCSE to study this course. You will need to have taken Food Catering to GCSE level with at least a grade C in GCSE Catering. It is essential that you are self motivated and have the ability to maintain interest and commitment to long term projects. Studying a Science subject alongside food is beneficial but by no means a requirement.
AS - Unit 1 Exam 50% and Unit 2 coursework 50% of AS grade
A2 - Unit 3 Exam 50% and Unit 4 coursework 50% of A2 grade
There are a wealth of careers within the food industry and research organisations. These include opportunities such as product development, process control, marketing and sales. In addition there are possibilities within education and the health services.
