Music at Shaftesbury School

Course description

The AS and A2 Music courses have been changed over the last year to make them more interesting, appealing and enjoyable to our students. We have funded several new improvements including a new guitar suite and a computer suite, which is presently equipped with both notational (Sibelius) and sequencing software (Cubasis and Cakewalk). In addition to this the A-Level room is also equipped with Hi-Fi, Television, Video and Electronic Piano for students to use in their independent research. Our latest development includes a new recording studio! There are three units in the course, which are made up of performing, composing and analysing music. The course can be tailored every year to fit the requirements of the students with options of working on various types of classical music, ‘pop’ music or music from television and film.
