Diploma in Skills for Construction - Entry 3 at West Kent College

Course description

A broad introduction to bricklaying, carpentry and joinery as well as painting and decorating.

Learn the basics of these trades for daily work.

As well as health and safety and workplace skills, you will cover:

• Bricklaying
• Carpentry/joinery
• Painting and decorating
• Construction theory

English and maths are an important part of the course, whether at functional skills or GCSE level.

Your assessment is continued, with practical tests at the end of each of the track areas.

Supported work experience is arranged with your tutor.

Entry requirements

You should have a good school report. You will be interviewed and take part in a taster day before being offered a place on the course.

Level 1 Diploma in Multiskills, Bricklaying, Carpentry and Joinery, and Plumbing.
