Course description

This is a unique vocational course for students aspiring to a career the in Performing Arts. The course is designed and taught to industry level as a working production company, giving learners first-hand experience of what life is like working in the industry.

Course content

This unique course is designed and taught to industry level as a working production company. Students will study nine units covering a variety of acting, voice and movement skills. The blend of film acting alongside the critical foundations of stage technique will help the actor develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of what is required in the Performing Arts industry.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) or above. Performance experience is useful but not essential; however, passion and enthusiasm for the performing arts is a must!

Assessment

Through a range of performance-based projects accompanied by demonstrations and guidance from your tutors. Learners are given opportunities to perform for the public throughout the year in projects for both stage and screen as well as attending trips to the theatre. The course work is largely learner-led and requires you to think creatively with boldness and aspiration.

Future opportunities

Learners who achieve a merit grade profile for the year can progress onto the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performance for Stage and Screen here at SGS College.

Learners can progress onto higher level courses, which could lead to a career in theatre, film, video and TV production, events management, sales and performance coaching.
