Joinery Level 1 Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria
The Level 1 Diploma in Joinery is an introductory course that will equip students with the basic practical skills and knowledge needed to start work in the industry. The one year, full time course comprises of theory work and practical sessions in the joinery workshop in the College’s state-of-the-art Construction Skill Centre. The units covered will include:- Health, safety and welfare in construction, Principles of building construction, information and communication, Maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools, Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools, Produce woodworking joints. This is an ideal course for those who work well in a team, enjoy working with their hands and are looking to take their first steps in a career in Joinery. Maths and English will be at the core of your studies, both of which are essential if you wish to pursue a career in the industry.
4 GCSEs Grade E-G and/or demonstrate an interest in the subject. All places are subject to interview. Applicants subject to induction/probationary period.
Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds where needed as a stepping stone to progress to a Full Level 2. Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA ((Employment Support Allowance, (work related activity)) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs
This course will prepare you for the Level 2 Diploma in Site or Bench Joinery. You may also wish to continue your studies as part of an Apprenticeship.
