Religious Studies AS A2 at Bishop Stopford CE School

Course description

In A Level Religious Studies, you will study world religions and theories of morality. The course also investigates philosophy and ethics.

It combines well with other subjects, and will lead to a huge range of further opportunities such as arts and humanities courses at university, and careers such as teaching.

Course content

In Year 12 (AS), you will study:

1. Philosophy of Religion

2. Religious Ethics (theories of morality)

In year 13, you will study:

1. Philosophy of Religion

2. Religious Ethics

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade C is a minimum entry requirement, although we recommend an average of 8 Grade C GCSEs.

Although you do not have to have studied RE at GCSE level, it is an advantage to have done so.

Assessment

This course is assessed entirely by examination: there is no coursework.

Financial information

You may need to purchase additional texts for further personal study. Any trips will incur costs.

Further information

We offer occasional day trips to philosophy and ethics conferences linked to the course.

Whilst all our courses are compatable with each other, the timetable may limit some combinations.
