A Level Physics at St Peter's Catholic School

Course description

Physics is recognized as being a challenging subject. A Level Physics is a key requirement for the further study of many sciences including Astronomy/Astrophysics and Engineering. It is a useful qualification for students considering careers in the Finance and Medical sectors.

Physics is a numerate subject but you also need to be able to express key concepts both orally and in writing. You will learn both classical physics (including mechanics, waves, and electricity) and modern physics (including particle physics, quantum physics and relativity). Physics partners well with Mathematics and Chemistry.

Entry requirements

To study AS/A2 Physics you need a grade B in Additional Science or Further Additional Science, including a grade B in the physics modules. As Physics is a mathematical science, we recommend you study Mathematics at AS/A2. You should enjoy the challenge of problem solving and getting to grips with various concepts. Also you should be able to work both independently and within a team.
