AS LEVEL

1. Atoms, Bonds and Groups

Builds upon the chemical concepts that have been developed at GCSE.

2. Chains, Energy and Resources

This module looks at organic chemistry and physical chemistry including the application of chemical principles to everyday life.

3. Practical Skills in Chemistry 1

Students carry out 3 practical tasks testing their the year by teaching practical technique and ability to analyse and staff interpret data.

A2 LEVEL

1. Rings, Polymers and Analysis

This module provides students with a deeper knowledge and understanding of how organic chemistry shapes the natural world.

2. Equilibria, Energetics and Elements

This module looks quantitatively at aspects of physical chemistry.

3. Practical Skills in Chemistry 2

Students carry out 3 practical tasks testing their the year by teaching practical technique and ability to analyse and staff interpret data.

Entry requirements

The minimum requirement for a GCE AS/A2 course is 6+ grades A*-B at GCSE or equivalent. For a student to study at GCE AS/A2 a subject that they studied at GCSE they must have achieved at least a grade B in that subject at GCSE where the subject requires previous study
