Course description

Module 1 – Performing to an audience

  • Be able to undertake a performance role for a live audience
  • Be able to interpret performance material for an audience
  • Be able to perform a role, communicating meaning to an audience
  • Be able to work with discipline within an ensemble

Module 2 – Contemporary Theatre Performance

  • Be able to research contemporary texts
  • Be able to interpret and realise contemporary texts
  • Be able to rehearse contemporary texts for performance
  • Be able to perform contemporary texts

Module 3 – Applying Contemporary Dance Techniques

  • Be able to demonstrate the stylistic features of contemporary technique
  • Be able to apply physical and interpretative skills in contemporary styles
  • Be able to absorb and reproduce complex sequences of movement
  • Be able to develop contemporary dance technique through the rehearsal process

Module 4 – Choreographing Dance

  • Understand the principles of choreographing dances
  • Know how to develop and shape ideas
  • Be able to rehearse for a devised performance
  • Be able to perform devised drama

Module 5 – Devising Plays

  • Know how to use stimulus material
  • Know how to develop and shape ideas
  • Be able to rehearse for a devised performance
  • Be able to perform devised drama

Module 6 – Site Specific

  • Know the nature of site-specific performance as an art form
  • Know the legislative requirements related to a site specific performance
  • Be able to research and contribute ideas in the development process of site-specific performance
  • Be able to undertake a role in a site-specific performance
