Business and Retail BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Stafford College

Course description

Whilst on the course you will learn and develop a number of skills such as:

  • gaining a broad understanding of business and retail
  • developing skills, knowledge and understanding used in business and retail organisations
  • have an opportunity to apply some learning in a practical way
  • developing skills which are valued by employers and further education
  • gaining confidence by developing independent learning skills

Unit 2                 Business Organisations

Unit 3                 Financial Forecasting for Business

Unit 4                 People in Organisations




Unit 11               Customer Relations in Business

Unit 12               Business Online

Unit 16               Business Enterprise

Unit 22               Visual Merchandising and Display Techniques for Retail Business

In addition you will develop your Functional Skills in the areas of:

  1. English
  2. Maths

Entry requirements

You will be expected to have at least 4 GCSEs at grade D which must include English or functional skills equivalent at Level 1. It is important that you have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in Business and a willingness to explore new ideas.  It is not a requirement that you have studied Business before.


You will be able to re-take GCSE English and GCSE Maths if you have not yet achieved them at a grade C or above.


Work is assessed through assignments which are internally set.  The assignments may consist of written tasks, role play or presentations, all of which will be assessed and graded at pass, merit or distinction level.

Future opportunities

Entry to a BTEC Level 3 Extended programme, if you achieve at minimum of a Merit at Level 2, and then to higher qualifications and jobs in the business world.
