Fabrication and Welding L3 at Newcastle College

Course description

This programme has been specifically designed to build on skills developed during the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Fabrication & Welding)

It will cover a range of welding and fabrication techniques.

Course content

The Course is a 54 credit diploma with subjects such as:-

  • Engineering Health & Safety
  • Engineering Principles
  • Principles of Fabrication and Welding Technology
  • Welding by manual Metal Arc Process
  • Welding by MIG Process
  • Welding by TIG Process
  • Platework Fabrication
  • Fabrication and erection of structural steelwork
  • Produce drawings using CAD

You will also follow a programme of study to complement this award including functional skills, Maths and English and Experience of Work.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's A-C including Maths & English and a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Welding & Fabrication). If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 5.0 or above. You will also have to complete the engineering induction programme.
