Drama and Theatre Studies AS Level at The Campion School

Course description

Unit 1: Live Theatre Production Seen & Prescribed Play Candidates' personal response to live theatre seen during the course Interpretation of a set play from a performance perspective. Unit 2: Presentation of an Extract from a Play Working in groups to develop and present an extract from a published play chosen by the candidates Study of an influential director, designer, Theatre Company or other practitioner, linked to the candidate's practical work.

Entry requirements

The general entry requirements for studying at Advanced level apply, and must include a minimum of grade C in English GCSE. Experience of performing is also desirable. If candidates can not demonstrate previous experience, they may be asked to audition to secure entry to the course.

Theatre Studies at Advanced Level could lead to a diverse variety of future careers such as Journalism, Advertising, the Police Force, Law, Film, Television, Theatre, Design, Performance and the Music Industry.Theatre Studies is a communication subject which analyses the visual and the verbal. It is therefore useful preparation for further study at in a variety of subject areas, and is recognised as an academic subject for entry into university.
