Drama and Theatre Studies at St Aidan's and St John Fisher's Associated Sixth Form

Course description

This course develops and deepens a student’s understanding and enjoyment of theatre. Candidates will experience a wide range of theatre and performance styles, both as audience member and participant. It is important to have commitment, enthusiasm and confidence in front of an audience.

AS Units:

Unit 1: Live Theatre Production Seen and Prescribed Play
Unit 2: Presentation of an Extract from a play - Practical

A2 Units:

Unit 3: Further Prescribed Plays including Pre-Twentieth Century
Unit 4: Presentation of Devised Drama - Practical

Entry requirements

Drama GCSE will provide a firm basis for Theatre Studies at A Level. However, whilst it is useful, it is not essential to have Drama experience. Enthusiasm and a love of theatre are the most important qualities.

Grade B or above in English Language or Literature is required.
