Physics A Level at Benfield School

Course description

Studying Physics can see you grasping the scope of massive galaxies or probing the tiniest component particles of atoms.  Physics is the study of how everything works, through the application of the basic rules of the universe and is full of challenge and opportunities.

By studying A level Physics you will build on your existing knowledge of foundation Physics and further develop your investigative and practical skills.

Course content

This course covers a range of areas relevant to the study of Physics, including: particles, quantum phenomena and electricity, mechanics, materials and waves.  These are explored both theoretically and via practical experiments and problem-solving.

Entry requirements

This course is particularly suited to students who are strong at Maths and is often combined with Maths A-Level.

Future opportunities

Physics is a highly regarded A-level that will facilitate entry to any Science or Maths based course at University.  It is also a requirement for many areas of Engineering.  It is greatly valued by employers and well respected because of the advanced level of thinking skills it requires.
