Business Studies - AS/A2 Level at Rochdale Sixth Form College
Business Studies is a challenging, relevant and rewarding subject. The course investigates the dynamic external environment within which businesses operate and the effects this can have upon decision-making within a business. Topical issues that can generate change for business organisations are studied and the ways in which businesses respond to these issues.
Skills developed in Business Studies include carrying out calculations, interpreting and analysing data, applying knowledge to unfamiliar situations, developing arguments and making judgements and decisions.
An A-Level in Business Studies provides a firm foundation for further study and employment. It can lead on to a variety of degree courses at university such as Accountancy and Finance, Marketing, Economics and is a good supporting subject for a variety of other degree courses. A Business Studies qualification prepares students for a career in business, which may stretch across any sector or industry.

To study A-Levels at RSFC you must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A* - C, covering at least four different subject areas. Two of the 5 A* - C grades must include GCSE Maths and English Language. A good school reference, attendance and behaviour record are also required as is a positive college interview.
If you are between 16 and 19 years old and think that you might struggle with the costs of full-time education you may apply for a bursary. The students most in need will be eligible to receive a bursary of £1,200 a year. This group includes:
• Disabled young people in receipt of both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance
• Young people in care• Care leavers
• Young people in receipt of income support
Other students facing genuine financial difficulties can apply for the Discretionary Bursary Fund (DBF).The DBF can support students with travel costs, equipment, books and other course-related costs.
