Design Apprenticeship at Plymouth College of Art

Course description

Plymouth College of Art offers apprenticeships specifically designed for the Creative Industries. As a specialist art college we provide industry-relevant training to help you get a head start in your creative career.

As an apprentice you will work full time for a company, gaining on-the-job experience which allows you to earn while you learn!

Course content

What will an apprenticeship give you?

  • 12 to 18 months employment in a Creative Industry
  • Monthly or weekly day release to Plymouth College of Art
  • A qualification relating to the skills you will gain at work
  • A qualification for the your College studies
  • Support in English, Maths and ICT
  • Knowledge of employment rights (ERR) and personal development (PLTS)

Entry requirements

To be able to complete an apprenticeship you must be employed by a company and we request that this is for a minimum of 30 hours per week. The business for which you work must allow you the time, opportunity and resource necessary to work towards the qualification.

You should be a non-graduate who is motivated, ambitious and looking to start out in a career within the Creative Industries. Training for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded.

Financial information

The employer is responsible for paying your salary. The National Minimum Wage requires all apprentices to be paid a minimum amount per hour.
