Course description

Why should I choose Business?

Aside from the fact that it is; exciting, critical to all human life, could result in extreme wealth and is the preferred subject of winners in life. Business is the most relevant of all A-Levels. We will all work in businesses when we are older, improving our knowledge of business can help us:

• Learn to analyse complex problems and provide carefully considered solutions

Assessment

You will complete exams in January and June. I am crazy about exam technique and ensuring pupils know how to answer questions in order to achieve the best grades. In class we will always look at an exam question, this will lead either to peer assessment using the mark scheme or I will assess the work giving you clear feedback. You will also have reviewed past exam papers and completed mocks prior to your exams.

Future opportunities

Taking Business studies will allow you to succeed in any job but it also leads directly to many careers: Accounting, Marketing & PR, Human Resources, project management...

If you are planning on going to university Business Studies fits comfortably with a vast range of degree courses, due to its nature of problem solving and the high levels of analysis and evaluation of actions involved it is a well regarded academic subject.

    • Merchants’ Academy Sixth Form aims to provide students with knowledge, understanding and experiences that are essential for the successful transition from school to university, employment or further training. We know that this is a critical time for students and we are committed to ensuring that our Sixth Formers leave the Academy with skills that will prepare them for adult life.

We hope that they will leave Merchants’ Academy with a unique set of memories, knowing they have gained more than their academic qualifications. This helps to ensure their CV and UCAS application will stand out from the crowd. This, alongside the excellent careers’ guidance and our supportive tutor system, will mean that they receive the individual support necessary for them to be successful in their future.
