Mathematics A Level at Netherhall School

Course description

At AS there are 3 units or modules to study. There are 2 Units of pure Maths called C1 and C2. These build upon the work you have done at GCSE particularly algebra and trigonometry. They also introduce ideas that will be new to you such as differentiation and integration. There is also 1 Unit which is an application of Maths, called D1 (Decision Maths) In A2 there are 3 more Units to study. There are 2 more Units of Pure Maths called C3 and C4 which extend and develop the work done at AS. There is also 1 Unit which is an application of Maths called S1 (Statistics).

Entry requirements

You will need to have sat Higher papers at GCSE and achieved at least a good grade B or above.

    • Welcome to the new edition of the Sixth Form Prospectus.  It contains all the information you will need to plan for your future success.

      Increasingly, education throughout the ages of 14-19 and beyond to Higher Education is the norm and the need for students to have a broad range of qualifications and skills continues to grow, particularly the ability to be flexible and to learn from new ideas and adapt to new technologies.  Personal skills such as initiative, teamwork and citizenship will also be much in demand.  As you would expect from a Sports College, we emphasise the importance of being fit to learn and the impact that healthy, active lifestyles have on achievement in all walks of life and all aspects of learning.

      This prospectus provides the full details of our Sixth Form provision.  We also provide a broad range of other opportunities including tutorial time, Sporting and Extra-Curricular Activities.  Most importantly, we offer a learning environment in which each student is well-known and supported.

      The most important thing for you, our students, and your parents is to have all the information you need to plan for the post-16 phase of your education.  This prospectus will answer many of your questions.  Teachers, Connexions Advisers, Mentors, family and friends will also be important in helping you to make the choices that are right for you.  There will be an opportunity to meet individually with one of the Senior Team involved in the Sixth Form induction.
