Multimedia (L3) Extended Diploma at Stanmore College

Course description

Equivalent to three A Levels. 100% Coursework.

This course, equivalent to 3 A Levels, is intended for anyone with an interest in Media, particularly in New Media, digital media, graphics or Journalism.

You will investigate a range of media products and industries, and plan and produce magazines, web-sites, radio shows, graphic narratives and digital photography.

Visiting professionals are regularly invited in to talk to students about the media industries and how to pursue a career n jounalism, digital media, graphics or web-design. You will get work experience opportunities in a media environment and work on 'real' beliefs with real organisations in and outside of college.

Year 1: Magazine design > Journalism > Photography > Packaging

Year 2: Web Design > Radio Production > Graphical Narratives > Real Client Briefs

Create graphic designs using InDesign
Write a range of news stories, reviews, interviews and features
Build a portfolio of photography
Learn image editing techniques in Photoshop
Build a website using Dreamweaver
Run a college radio station
Create a graphic narrative
Work with a real client to create a marketing solution.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English.

Passion for the course area is a must and a portfolio is desirable but not essential.



100% Coursework internally assessed and externally moderated.

Future opportunities

The course provides a strong base for progression into a variety of undergraduate courses in: Digital Media, Photography, Radio Production, Marketing, Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Graphic Design and Employment.
